OnlyScans Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2025-10-14

This Privacy Policy describes how OnlyScans processes information when you use the Android app (package: com.onlyscans.android). It explains what data is processed, why, and the choices available to you.

OnlyScans stores your scans on your device. We do not operate a cloud backend for your documents. Your content remains on your device unless you choose to export or share it.

Information We Process

  • Content you create

    • Documents and images you scan are stored locally on your device. We do not upload your documents to our servers.
  • Subscriptions and purchases

    • If you buy a subscription (e.g., Plus or Pro), Google Play Billing processes your payment. The app may store a non‑personal purchase token and your current entitlement locally to recognize your subscription and enable paid features.
  • Scanning and recognition

    • Document capture and on‑device text recognition use Google Play services and ML Kit components. Processing occurs on your device; however, Google Play services may collect basic diagnostics needed to deliver these capabilities.
  • Diagnostics

    • The app may log technical events locally (e.g., for reliability).
  • We do not collect

    • We do not collect or host your scanned documents on our servers.
    • We do not operate an account system for this app.
    • We do not directly process payment card data (Google Play handles payments).
    • We do not show ads or integrate any advertising networks or tracking SDKs.

How We Use Information

  • Provide core features (scanning, editing, exporting) and local settings.
  • Determine subscription entitlement (to enable Plus/Pro features).
  • Maintain app reliability and prevent abuse.

Subscriptions

  • Plus and Pro are subscriptions sold through Google Play. Google Play processes payments and manages renewals, trials, and cancellations. You can manage or cancel your subscription in the Google Play app under Subscriptions.

Data Storage and Retention

  • Your documents remain on your device unless you export or share them.
  • App settings, purchase state, and subscription entitlement are stored locally on your device.
  • Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data on your device. Note that uninstalling the app does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription.

Your Choices

  • Manage your subscription: Google Play → Subscriptions.
  • Delete content: remove documents in‑app or clear the app’s data in Android settings.

Legal Bases (where applicable)

  • Provide the service: local processing of app features and storing preferences (performance of a contract/legitimate interest).
  • Subscriptions: processing purchase tokens and entitlement (performance of a contract).

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information.

We share information with service providers solely to enable app functionality:

  • Google Play Billing — payment processing and subscription management.
  • Google Play services / ML Kit — on‑device scanning capabilities and related diagnostics.

Review their policies for details about their practices.

Regional Disclosures

  • GDPR/EEA & CCPA/CPRA: OnlyScans stores your data locally and does not collect personal identifiers, track your activity across third-party apps, or sell your personal information. Since we do not run accounts or server-side document hosting, your right to delete data is exercised locally by removing documents in-app or uninstalling the app.

Children’s Privacy

OnlyScans is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe information was processed contrary to this policy, please contact us so we can address it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as features or legal requirements change. Material updates will be reflected here and in the in‑app policy.
